Thailand’s auto producers saw the production of 134,245 vehicles in June, increasing by 87.22 percent from a low comparative base in 2020, according to the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).
On a monthly basis, however, auto production dropped 4.23 percent from May due to parts shortage, according to the FTI.
In the first half of the year, the country’s auto production amounted to 844,601 units, a boost of 39.34 percent from the same period of 2020.
Auto sales on the domestic market saw an increase of 15.07 percent from one year ago to 61,758 units last month.
Thailand exported 83,022 finished vehicles in June, increasing by 65.88 percent from one year ago, the FTI data showed.
The FTI raised its forecast for the country’s auto production to a maximum of 1.6 million units this year, higher than its earlier forecast of 1.5 million units. It also expected auto exports of this year to be at 850,000 units, up from 750,000 units.
